Like most people, on reading the Fort Worth Star-Telegram report of a drunken man who was arrested for abusing the 911 service, our first response was: you can send text messages to 911? Apparently you can in Hood County. The man was a patron at a bar in Granbury and began texting 911 complaining that he had been overserved by the bartenders. The 911 operators informed the man that he should not abuse the service, and he is alleged to have responded by sending additional text messages calling the operators and deputies names. The man has been charged with making abusive calls to 911, a class B misdemeanor.
