Racehorse Haynes, the famous Texas criminal defense attorney, has died. Haynes was from Houston, but two of his most prominent cases took place in Fort Worth. In one case, Haynes defended Cullen Davis the notorious billionaire who was charged with killing his ex-wife’s boyfriend and daughter at a Fort Worth mansion. Cullen Davis was controversially acquitted in his second trial; the case went on to be featured in numerous books and films.
In another Fort Worth criminal case, Haynes defended Pamela Fielder in her murder trial. Fielder claimed she killed her husband, a prominent Fort Worth gynecologist, in self defense after he became enraged when she told him she was divorcing him. Fielder was eventually convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to two years.
